Windows 11 Releases October 5, 2021

Windows 11

A lot has changed since the first Windows Operating System was made available in 1985.  Microsoft’s commitment to quality and excellence has remained the same over the decades. Windows 11 is coming to a computer near you on October 5th of this year and here is a brief summary of some of the new features Windows 11 has to offer.  More details can be found here.

Completely Redesigned With Users in Mind

Microsoft is known for creating an iconic user experience. Every little detail is carefully curated, from the placement of the menu icons to the fonts and sounds. Windows 11 brings a simplified user experience designed to help foster creativity and facilitate productivity. The Start button is now in the center of the taskbar, making it incredibly easy to access your files and programs. And for those of us on the go, Microsoft 365 combines with the power of the cloud, allowing you to pick up where you left off, no matter what device you’re using.

Multitaskers, rejoice! Snap Layouts and Snap Grids provide an easy way to work across multiple windows at a time. Users can also create customized Desktops for each element of their life—such as work, school, and gaming—to facilitate a positive work/life balance and minimize distraction.

Connect With Anyone, From Anywhere

Chat, email, video conferencing—computers have revolutionized the way we connect with one another. Windows 11 takes this connection to a new level by integrating Chat from Microsoft Teams right in the taskbar. You can connect with friends, family, and coworkers via chat, text, voice, or video, no matter the platform or device they’re using thanks to the innovative Teams app. And if they haven’t downloaded Teams, you can send a two-way SMS message.  Attending Teams meetings is also a breeze—you can mute/un-mute or start presenting your screen right from the taskbar.

Stay On Top of Everything With Widgets

Get the latest news, weather updates, and other important notifications right on your desktop, without having to stop what you’re doing! Microsoft has had useful widgets for a long time, but Windows 11 brings the power of AI and best-in-class browser performance to the table. Create a customized user profile for a truly personalized experience.

The Microsoft Store also received an important upgrade and has been redesigned for speed and ease of use. With both in-house and third-party apps available, you have everything you need to get your work done (and enjoy some downtime, too!).

Computers running Windows 11 are coming soon and many Windows 10 PCs will be eligible for a free upgrade.  Use the PC Health Check app to see if your current PC meets the requirements to run Windows 11.
