Microsoft Office 365 Name Changes

Effective today, April 21, 2020, Microsoft is changing the names for its Office 365 subscriptions for small and medium businesses.  Below are the current and new names:

Pricing and product features for these Office 365 products will remain the same. The intention of this change is just to simplify the naming convention.

Here is a summary of the primary components of each of these newly named subscriptions:

Microsoft 365 Business Basic
  • Exchange Email Hosting (50 GB mailbox per user)
  • OneDrive for Business (1 TB/user)
  • Teams – online meetings & video calls, chat, collaboration
  • SharePoint Online – intranet for sharing information
  • Web & mobile versions of Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Maximum 300 Users
Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  • Business Basic features plus:
  • Fully-installed and always up-to-date versions of:
    • *Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher (PC only), Access (PC only)
      • *Each user can install these Office apps on up to 5 phones, 5 tablets and 5 PCs or Macs
  • Microsoft Bookings – allow your customers to schedule & management appointments
  • MileIQ – real-time mileage tracking & reporting
  • Maximum 300 users
Microsoft 365 Business Premium
  • Business Standard features plus:
  • Power Automate, Forms, Planner, PowerApps, StaffHub, Stream
  • Long-term archiving of Exchange Online-based mailboxes
  • Message policy and compliance features
  • Privacy, security and transparency features
  • Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection Plan 1
  • Identity and Access Management Features
  • Device and Applications Management Features
  • Upgrade to Windows 10 Professional

Microsoft 365 Apps for Business

    • *Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Publisher (PC only), Access (PC only)
    • *Each user can install these Office apps on up to 5 phones, 5 tablets and 5 PCs or Macs
  • OneDrive for Business (1 TB/user)
  • Microsoft Sway – easily create engaging, interactive, web-based reports, presentations, newsletters, trainings, and more
  • NOTE: Exchange Email not included
Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise (required for Remote Desktop users)
  • Fully-installed and always up-to-date versions of:
    • *Outlook Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher (PC only), Access (PC only)
    • *Each user can install these Office apps on up to 5 phones, 5 tablets and 5 PCs or Macs
  • Web versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
